Old Trafford set to say a heartfelt goodbye to Casemiro against Nottingham Forest

Manchester United fans filled Old Trafford for Casemiro’s final home game of this season against Nottingham Forest, with the Brazilian midfielder starting before his contract expires this summer.

The 34-year-old is receiving a fitting farewell today as he heads for his United curtain call. Earlier this week, he handed over gifts to staff he has worked closely with United’s Carrington training complex this week.

He has incredibly won the hearts of fans by scoring key goals, and he hasn’t looked back since reclaiming his starting spot from understudy Manual Ugarte in March of last year.

The midfielder departure acknowledges the fact that next season could prove too taxing.

The staff at United have found him to be one of the most respected players of the club.

Fans have been sharing their feelings, as one user wrote, “ Whatever happens next, Casemiro leaves with respect. A true competitor who gave everything for the badge when it mattered most.”

The second user wrote, “Waving a goodbye to the stadium just like waving goodbye to every single counter-attacking midfielder who ran past him this season.”

Casemiro will be remembered for his unwavering support during Mainoo’s return to the side and return in form under Michael Carrick, a mentorship that ultimately led the young Mancunian to secure a new long-term contract last month.
