Olivia Rodrigo opens up about major problem while touring: ‘I was freaking out’

Olivia Rodrigo just admitted that she struggled being away from home for long stretches at a time during her tours.

The 23-year-old singer has reflected on the anxiety she experienced during her GUTS world tour, revealing that being on the road for long periods affected her sense of normality.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan, Olivia explained that anxiety is something she still deals with. “I’m serving anxious forever,” she said.

“I was really nervous the first 10 shows of the GUTS tour. It was hard to be away from home and not have any sense of normalcy,” the Traitor singer mentioned.

The Good 4 U hitmaker embarked on the 2024 tour in support of her sophomore album of the same name.

“I was freaking out; my nervous system was crashing out,” she recalled of the tour. “I still get anxious. It’s just different than when I was younger.”

Olivia then revealed that she has developed a method to help calm her nerves while performing on stage.

“I always pick out a person and just sing to them; everyone else is just on the side,” she shared.

Elsewhere in the interview, the Filipino-American singer reflected on what she learned during the 16-month tour, including performing one of the biggest concerts of her career in the Philippines.

“This sounds so cheesy, but the power of music,” she said of what she learned. “I had never been to the Philippines in my life, and being able to go there and play in an arena of 55,000 people is so crazy.”

The Drivers License hitmaker continued, “I loved watching the young girls in the crowd sing songs like Traitor.”

Olivia Rodrigo is set to return to the road in September for The Unraveled Tour, in support of her upcoming third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, which is scheduled for release on June 12.
