A wild brawl at a Sydney school that ended with six students in hospital has resulted in two teenagers being charged.

The ugly scenes unfolded at Belmore Boys High School, in the city’s southwest on Thursday.

Emergency services responded to a call at 11am, after reports 30 children were involved in a fight on school grounds.

Six students were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Two boys, both aged 16, were arrested and charged with affray. One was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

They were both granted conditional bail and will face a children’s court on May 29.

In the video, obtained by Nine News, punches are thrown, students are knocked to the ground, and kicked and stomped on.

On social media it was suggested the “boys got carried away” playing football at lunch before the brawl broke out.

It was captured on phone cameras, again raising questions about the effectiveness of a ban introduced in 2023 on the devices.

Education Minister Prue Car condemned the brawl.

“No child should ever be subjected to this kind of violence – at school, online, or anywhere else,” she said.

The students involved in the brawl have been suspended, the education department confirmed.

“The student use of mobile phones is banned in all NSW public schools and students face consequences if caught using devices during school hours,” the spokesperson said.
