English Premier League star Morgan Gibbs-White suffered a horror facial injury playing for Nottingham Forest against Chelsea.

The midfielder clashed heads with Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, with both sustaining gruesome injuries.

Gibbs-White’s forehead was split open and a huge gash emerged, causing the England ace to leak blood.

Both players received emergency medical attention on the pitch before being taken off.

Sanchez also suffered a significant cut at the top of the head and both players received stitches for their wounds after the match.

Gibbs-White’s teammate Dilane Bakwa shared a photo of the stricken star in the dressing room after the match, still wearing his bloody shorts.

But he managed a smile and put his thumbs up, appearing to be in good spirits.

He struck the same pose as he shared an update on social media for his followers.

“Thanks for the messages. What a win. Congrats Taiwo Awoniyi,” he wrote on Instagram.

Sanchez took to the same platform to show off his battle scars while wishing Gibbs-White well.

He wrote: “Seen that you came out worse than me. Hope you are okay big man @morgangibbswhite.”

Gibbs-White managed just 20 minutes on the pitch after coming on at halftime but his side still managed to beat Chelsea 3-1 on their own patch.

He now faces a race to be fit in time for Forest’s huge Europa League semi-final second leg clash against fellow English side Aston Villa.

Forest hold a 1-0 lead from the first leg as they bid to reach their first European final since 1980, when they won the European Cup.
