NRL star Toby Rudolf has made no secret of his desire to join the Papua New Guinea Chiefs in a hilarious plea live on air.

The Cronulla Sharks forward is out of contract at the end of the season and he is already making plans for the future — in hilarious fashion too.

Watch every game of every round of the NRL Premiership LIVE with no ad-breaks during play on FOX LEAGUE, available on Kayo Sports | New to Kayo? Join now and get your first month for just $1.

Rudolf appeared on Channel 9’s Today Show and left his hosts, including Karl Stefanovic, in stitches with a dating-profile style pitch to PNG general manager Michael Chammas.

“I have heard that the PNG manager is coming on board a little after my chat so Karl if you don’t mind putting in a good word for me,” joked Rudolf.

“Maybe let him know that I think he looks amazing and I’ve heard he smells fantastic please Karl, that would be fantastic.”

Asked how he would see himself, Rudolf continued: “I’m a really fun guy. I like to play Rugby League. I’m a good listener and I also love to travel.

“Let’s just say that Michael Chammas I do love you and I’ve heard you’re a great man and I’m looking forward to working with you.”

As well as working with Chammas, Rudolf could also not hide the appeal of the tax-free earnings he would earn at PNG.

The NRL and PNG have faced criticism with regard to that incentive, given none of the other teams can offer it.

But Chammas hit back at the accusation, saying it is not the only reason why players may look to jump ship.

“We’re not going to deny it’s there, it’s obviously an incentive for someone to set themselves up for life,” Chammas told Nine’s Today on Friday.

”But if that’s your only motivation I think you can see through that pretty quickly.

”The questions Jarome was asking, it wasn’t about money. He could have probably asked for more but he didn’t push.

”He wanted to make sure his family was OK… he was comfortable that his family would be safe and they would enjoy themselves.

”And he wants to win, and that’s what we want to do, we want to be competitive.”
