Elle Fanning does not shy away from baring it all in front of the camera. Her latest series on Apple TV+, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, is an example of this.

Admitting she’s not “very modest” on camera about portraying on-screen nudity, Fanning says she had already performed such scenes, pointing to her stint in The Great, a Hulu series in which she portrayed Catherine the Great.

“I feel like I kind of broke that down in The Great,” she tells People. “I was like, ‘I’ve kind of already done this.’”

Rather than being uncomfortable, Fanning shares that she is “really proud” of how her on-screen nudity in the show came after she turned to OnlyFans to raise financial support after becoming pregnant with her English professor.

“I am really proud of how the nudity is depicted in [Margo’s Got Money Troubles], because it’s not in an overly sexualised way at all.”

The 28-year-old adds that nudity in Margo’s Got Money Troubles serves a purpose rather than sending cheap thrills.

“A lot of it is actually just having to do with the necessities of motherhood, the need to feed your child and breastfeed,” she shares.

“And then that’s kind of juxtaposed, later, when Margo’s doing her OnlyFans. But I think it’s a nice commentary on how her relationship to her body changes.”

Giving further details, Fanning says she had to use prosthetics for breastfeeding scenes.

“A lot of the time, I did have prosthetics to make [my boobs] look like breastfeeding boobs and milk that would squirt out this contraption that they had.”

“So I would be in the trailer and they’d put them on, and then I would feel like, ‘OK, I’m just going to walk out.’ And I’m like, ‘Wait a second; I can’t walk out. This isn’t a shirt.’”

Margo’s Got Money Troubles is streaming on AppleTV+.
