The older brother of Crows captain Jordan Dawson, Jaryd, has been found dead after going missing from Robe in South Australia on Tuesday afternoon.

The search for Jaryd was officially called off on Wednesday afternoon, a day on from his disappearance, with SA Police confirming a report was being prepared for the coroner following the “sudden death of a man in the state’s South East”.

“There are no suspicious circumstances. We ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this time,” SA Police said in a statement.

Police spent the day searching near a lookout in Robe where the new father’s car was discovered.

It is understood that emergency services crews have since retrieved his body, which was found nearby.

The tragic update comes after his wife, Jessica Carter Dawson, made a public plea to find her husband, who had recently became a new dad, on Wednesday.

“If anyone has seen or heard from Jaryd Dawson since around 2.30pm yesterday please, please let us know,” she wrote on Instagram, tagging Jaryd’s mother and sister Marian Dawson and Chloe Kane.

Crows star Dawson’s wife Milly also shared the post on Instagram.

Jordan was not sighted at the Crows’ main training session on Wednesday after his brother’s disappearance.

Coach Mathew Nicks told reporters earlier that Dawson would not be training because of “personal reasons”.

Jaryd married Jessica in late 2024 before welcoming their first child together, Hudson Ronald Dawson, in September.

The Dawsons grew up in Robe, a remote town more than 300km from Adelaide, and played football together at school.

Much like his brother Jaryd was also a talented footballer and won two best-and-fairest awards playing with the Robe Roosters Football Club.

He featured in their A Grade Grand Final in the Mid South Eastern Football League last year.

Jaryd is also the co-founder of Domus Design & Build, a boutique home building company based in Robe.
