Three men have been arrested and charged after an alleged “kill car” led police on a dramatic pursuit along a major Sydney highway.

A white Audi that police allege was used in a string of recent shootings across Sydney’s west was spotted driving along the Great Western Highway just before 2.30pm Saturday, police say.

It is alleged the car refused to stop when ordered by police, sparking a high-speed chase.

Police allege the vehicle’s occupants were seen “throwing jerry cans from the vehicle on to the M4 motorway near Silverwater” before a vehicle manned by officers from Raptor Squad rammed the car and rendered it inoperable.

Three men allegedly tried to flee from the vehicle on foot, but were soon arrested.

Police allegedly found a semi-automatic rifle, a pistol, and cloned number plates inside the Audi.

The vehicle was allegedly stolen from an Edmonson Park property last month. Police say the Audi, firearms, and the cloned plates were seized for forensic examination.

All three men were charged with possessing a prohibited firearm, possessing an unregistered pistol in a public place, possessing ammunition without holding a license, and participating in a criminal group.

Dean Saunders, 28, – who police allege was the driver – was also charged with driving a stolen car and recklessly engaging in a police pursuit.

He was refused bail on Sunday and will reappear at Parramatta Local Court on April 29.

The two 24-year-olds were also charged with riding as passengers in a stolen vehicle.

They are due to appear before bail division court on Sunday.
