Footage of Sean Darcy appearing dazed inside the Fremantle dressing room on Friday night has left fans feeling uncomfortable.

The ruckman appeared to be on a different planet as teammates belted out the club’s song following their thrilling win over Collingwood at Adelaide Oval.

Darcy was taken out of the game in the second quarter after seemingly innocuous head contact with Collingwood’s Ned Long.

After a stoppage hit-out that went to ground, Darcy put his head over the loose ball before running into Long’s upper chest and shoulder.

Darcy immediately dropped to ground and was quickly taken down the tunnel to undergo a head injury assessment.

The 203cm tall initially passed shoulder and neck testing, but failed his HIA to leave partner-in-crime Luke Jackson as the Dockers’ sole ruck for the remainder of the night.

Hours later after the Dockers had snatched the four points by kicking the final two goals in the six-point win over the Magpies, Darcy joined his celebrating teammates in the huddle to sing “Freo way to go”.

The 27-year-old appeared unable to sing the words and at times looked dazed and confused in the huddle.

The footage has concerned many footy fans.

Football commentator Lenny Phillips posted on X: “Suspect looking at this, Sean Darcy might miss more than 12 days”.

One X user responded to the footage shared by Channel 7 by writing: “Any mention of Darcy absolutely paralysed in this? Not a very good look”.

Another wrote: “Get Sean Darcy out of there man”.

One social media user wrote: “Bloke looks like he is meeting these people for the first time in his life.

One Reddit user wrote: “That’s terrifying hours later, surely the medicos should’ve told him to sit this out”.

Another posted: “Poor bloke, hope he makes a speedy recovery. I’ll be genuinely shocked if some eyebrows aren’t raised after seeing this footage.

“I feel an inquiry or a please explain, at a minimum is needed.”

After spending long periods off the ground through injury in recent seasons, Dockers coach Justin Longmuir said he was “gutted” for Darcy.

“He was building so, of course, it’s disappointing,” Longmuir said.

“It’s an unlucky incident, it’s going to cost him a little bit of time, and I feel bad for him, but we want to make sure we look after him as well so he will enter the (concussion) protocols.”

As a result of the head injury, Darcy will miss the club’s Western Derby clash with the Eagles.

It leaves Fremantle facing the possibility of promoting Mason Cox to make his debut for the club.

Collingwood is also facing a concussion issue after Jordan de Goey took an accidental knee to the back of his head.

The 30-year-old hit the deck after contact from Fremantle defender Heath Chapman in a marking contest.

De Goey did not pass the head injury assessment.

It was a tough night for the Pies, who shot themselves in the foot with poor kicking.

Collingwood’s horror display in front of the big sticks ultimately cost them with the Dockers securing the 7.3 (45) to 5.9 (39) win.

The loss sinks Collingwood to 2-3 on the season which has them currently sitting in 11th spot on the ladder.

They’ll be hoping to bounce back next Thursday night when they lock horns with longtime rival Carlton at the MCG.
