Johnathan Thurston appeared to enjoy the Cowboys’ win over the Broncos more than anyone on Friday night.
The North Queensland icon went rogue in the sheds following the club’s controversial 35-31 win over their Queensland rivals at Suncorp Stadium.

Thurston was handed the microphone inside the club’s dressing room for Channel 9 after the game — and his antics did not disappoint.
The Queensland hero was not subtle as he jumped in to be part of the team photo, saying: “Look at this. Uncy John John is getting in on the photos, look at me go”.
The bubbly 42-year-old got plenty of banter out of the Cowboys stars, including former teammates.
Cowboys star Reuben Cotter got a bit too comfortable with Thurston after being asked what the win meant to him.
“F***ing means a lot,” he said.
“I think it’s been six games or something. I think the last time I won this, Gavin Cooper was playing for us.”
Scott Drinkwater and Jake Clifford were also among Thurston’s victims.
Thurston finished it off with a final interview with former teammate Coen Hess.
Thurston made fun of a mid-week sledge Hess dropped ahead of the game, when the star forward said he “hated” the Broncos.
“What bout your hand grenade at the start of the week? I love it,” Thurston said.
Hess responded: “Last time I did one of them, you told me if I did another you’d cut my arm off.
“About 10 years ago. So go on, cut it off for me.”
That was enough for Thurston to sign off back to the Channel 9 studio, saying: “Alright, I think that’s enough from me. I’m going to grab a beer. Back to you.”
Cronulla legend Paul Gallen was not amused back in the Channel 9 studio.
“Jumping in the photo of a game he didn’t play. Seriously that’s like claiming a grand final win when you’re not even in the team,” he said.
“I’m not OK (with it). Goose of the week. Thurston, goose of the week.”
The Cowboys had plenty to celebrate after coming back from 30-24 late in the game.
The Broncos had a try disallowed and it opened the door for the Cowboys to strike.
The result leaves the Broncos down in 10th with three wins and three defeats from their opening six games.
The Cowboys move up to fourth, two points adrift of early pacesetters Penrith.
