Jessica Simpson has set the record straight about a rumour based on her spending patterns.

In her latest chat with Elle Magazine, the songbird shared her two cents on a speculation that suggested she used to spend $1,000 a week only for gaining a perfectly tanned skin.

The rumours first sparked in 2014, when it was reported that Simpson splashed out hundreds of dollars on spray tans and tanning products.

Setting the air clear about her ostentatious spending, Jessica revealed that she never spent anywhere near that figure on tanning.

“No, $1,000? Gosh. I’d rather have lain out in the sun,” she began.

“Maybe it depends if you’re going to factor in a vacation with that budget.”

While denying the weekly $1,000 habit, Simpson confessed that there was one period in her life where her tanning routine was a full-time job.

It was during the 2005 filming of The Dukes of Hazzard as she portrayed the role of the iconic Daisy Duke.

Simpson went on to recall that a rigorous “glow strategy” was essential for her confidence on set.

“When I was playing Daisy Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard, I had to be tan and that was a four-month shoot where I was damn near naked the whole time,” she addressed.

She also stated, “The only way to be confident then when shooting was to spray it, and do body make-up. But I also didn’t want it to be too orange, so I had to have a base tan.”

“It was all thought out,” Simpson concluded.
