Chris Hemsworth has opened up about why he chose to step away from Hollywood life, a decision he deems the “greatest decision” as he moved to Australia.

The 42-year-old actor says he and his wife, Elsa Pataky, decided to leave Los Angeles shortly after welcoming their twin sons, Sasha and Tristan, per Radar Online.

While the family had been living in LA, Hemsworth admitted they weren’t enjoying the lifestyle, with the constant paparazzi attention and the lack of work being filmed locally.

“We kind of were set up in LA and not enjoying it, you know,” the Thor star recalled. “Like nothing was shooting there. We were filming kind of everywhere else.”

As a result, the family relocated in 2014 to a coastal estate in northern New South Wales, Australia.

Hemsworth described returning home as feeling like “a holiday,” explaining that their property has space, privacy and close to nature.

“You know, when you come back from work, you wanna go on a holiday,” Chris explained. The estate gives access to outdoor activities like surfing, horse riding and motorbiking, giving their children, including their daughter, India Rose, exposure to wholesome experiences he had growing up.

“Like coming home for me is – it feels like a holiday. We have a big farm and horses and motorbikes and surf,” he added.

The move also brought him closer to his roots, with brothers Liam Hemsworth and Luke Hemsworth also choosing to live in Australia.
