The family of a young girl abused by a childcare worker says they are “devastated” the monster who preyed on their young daughter will only serve a few months in jail before he is deported.

Arvind Ajay Sing, 43, pleaded not guilty to charges alleging he digitally raped a child at a Queensland childcare centre in 2022.

Even after being charged with rape, Singh’s visa was cancelled but he remained in Australia until 2025, when he was deported back to Fiji before his court date.

Speaking on A Current Affair, the mother of the young girl Singh was convicted of abusing said bringing him to justice had been a “prolonged” and painful process for the family.

“What they put our daughter through was absolutely disgusting,” the victim’s father told A Current Affair.

“It’s been going for four years now and we have just been in limbo land the whole time.

“This didn’t happen in a park or a dark alley, this happened at a day care centre. Where little kids are meant to be safe.

“It’s not like he snuck out the backdoor or got on a boat and left the country, someone stamped his paperwork and let an accused rapist go out the front door.”

The program reports Singh voluntarily returned to Queensland in February to stand trial for the charges.

The jury found Singh not guilty of rape, but guilty of one count of indecent treatment of a child under his care.

A Current Affair reports Singh was sentenced to 20 months’ jail, with half of his term to be suspended.

After serving that time, he will be deported back to Fiji.

The victim’s father said the family was “absolutely devastated” by the result.

“Absolutely devastated. I’d get lower if I didn’t pay my taxes,” the father told ACA.

The child’s mother said: “We had to fight to get him off the streets so that he could no longer work with children again.”

“She is incredible, the bravest little girl. As parents couldn’t be more proud.”
