A predator who encouraged his dog to perform lewd acts on him has been jailed for a sickening campaign of sexual abuse against a teenage victim.

Tomasz Kakiet, of Parafield Gardens, north of Adelaide, sexually abused, secretly filmed and then blackmailed a victim 30 years his junior over a brutal period of weeks, with shocking evidence of bestiality later coming to light during the investigation.

Kakiet previously pleaded guilty to the sexual abuse of a child, two counts of procuring child exploitation material, blackmail and bestiality.

The 47-year-old met his 16-year-old victim on Snapchat before instigating a sexual relationship with them.

Adelaide’s district court heard that on a number of occasions, he had taken the teenager to his hope where they engaged in sexual acts.

And shocking, unbeknown to the teen, footage of this was captured on Kakiet’s CCTV cameras – which he later claimed he had set up in an attempt to “catch his dog urinating inside”.

But the court heard that days later the vile Kakiet had sent the child footage and threatened to disseminate it unless the sexual relationship continued.

It was also heard that he had demanded they agree to a “master and slave” agreement via email.

It was only once the teenager gathered the courage to report Kakiet to a child abuse line that he was arrested and evidence against him gathered.

Police seized Kakiet’s laptop computer where they found the disturbing evidence of his campaign of abuse against his victim.

Officers examining the computer also discovered sickening evidence of bestiality – namely a video of him encouraging a dog to lick his genitals on two occasions.

They also found Snapchat messages of him explaining to another user how he goes about the beastly deed.

Jailing Kakiet, Judge Paul Muscat described his behaviour, which occurred across a series of weeks between March and April 2024, as “predatory” and “reprehensible”.

Meanwhile, the judge also angrily dismissed the defendant’s claims that his offending was solely down to the use of methamphetamines.

The court heard that in a pre-sentence psychiatric assessment, Kakiet had claimed that he “smoked a pipe every two to four hours”, which had influenced his behaviour.

However, the judge dismissed this claim as an exaggeration in an effort to lessen his punishment.

Judge Muscat said: “Just using common sense I am not prepared to accept you were smoking a pipe every two to four hours – that is just ridiculous and is not supported by the evidence.”

The judge added that Kakiet had shown “little insight” into the severity of his offending and had been “dismissive” of the heinous nature of the crimes.

The court heard that Kakiet had been born in Poland, before emigrating to Australia with his mother at the age of eight.

He settled well to life in Australia and learned English confidently, before going on to spend 11 years working in the military as an armorer.

During his time, he did not see any front line combat and went on to hold a number of other jobs after leaving the army.

There was an audible cheer from the public gallery when he was sentenced to 10 years behind bars, from an observer known to Kakiet.

Outside of court afterwards, the observer said: “He got what he deserved”.
