An apprehended domestic violence order has been taken out against broadcaster Timothy Blackwell for his ex-wife.

The Nova FM breakfast host’s matter was before Newtown Local Court on Wednesday, where Magistrate Alexander Mijovich granted an interim ADVO.

The 44-year-old was not present.

According to the ADVO, Mr Blackwell is restricted from assaulting, harassing, threatening or intimidating 45-year-old Monique Maxwell, his ex-wife.

These are the standard conditions of an AVO, and Mr Blackwell has not been charged with any offences.

Mr Blackwell, who has worked for Nova for over two decades, will next appear in court on 15 April.

The pair split back in December 2023.

Mr Blackwell was recently promoted from Nova’s national drive shift to Sydney breakfast.

Representing Blackwell is Paul McGirr of McGirr & Associates, who told The Daily Mail, that the matter “will be vigorously defended.”

“I’m not going to comment on the specifics except to say the matter will be vigorously defended and it appears that the AVO is being used as a weapon as opposed to a shield,” Mr McGirr said.

Just hours after the interim ADVO was granted, Mr Blackwell attended a Keli Holiday concert and was seen partying with attendees including Kate Ritchie and Abbie Chatfield.

NewsWire has reached out to Ms Maxwell for comment.
