Christopher Nolan shares two cents on Warner Bros-Netflix merger deal

Christopher Nolan has expressed his concerns over the pending Warner Bros-Netflix merger deal.

In a new interview with Variety, the Oppenheimer director said that he believes the merger will be a major setback for the industry.

“We have very, very significant concerns about how this is all going to happen,” he told the outlet. “I think it’s a very worrying time for the industry. The loss of a major studio is a huge blow.”

As per the filmmaker, a merger would mean a loss of “jobs and stability.”

“There are encouraging noises, but that’s not the same as commitments,” said Christopher. “We’re interested to hear more about the specifics of how they’re going to run these things.”

The Dark Knight director further said, “The theatrical window becomes a sort of easily graspable symbol of whether Warner Bros. will be run as a theatrical distributor or whether it be folded in as a streamer.”

“But the reality is, the issues on the television side and the streaming side are far more important to our membership,” he added.

For those unversed, Christopher is currently busy directing his new film, The Odyssey.

The highly anticipated movie will be released in cinemas on July 17, 2026.
