Angelina Jolie sees red after being 'outplayed' by Nicole Kidman?
Angelina Jolie sees red after being ‘outplayed’ by Nicole Kidman?

Angelina Jolie is reportedly furious beyond words after Nicole Kidman lands her most desired role.

For those unaware, Jolie was eyeing to play Dr. Kay Scarpetta in the forthcoming television series named Scarpetta developed by Liz Sarnoff, which is based Patricia Cornwell’s book series of the same name.

However, Kidman is playing role alongside starry cast, including Jamie Lee Curtis, Simon Baker, Amanda Righetti, Bobby Cannavale, Rosy McEwen, Ariana DeBose, Hunter Parrish, and others.

Scarpetta, which is scheduled to be released on March 11, 2026, on Amazon Prime Video, chronicles the tale of a medical examiner who solves murder mysteries off the clock.

An insider told Radar Online that Jolie is consumed by rage after losing the role to Kidman.

The source claimed, “Angie is angry and says the project was ‘stolen’ from her. But the truth is she got outplayed because Nicole understands the current film and TV industry better. By comparison, Angie lives in a bit of a bubble.”

While the Big Little Lies star is on great terms with Hollywood executives, Jolie maintains a distance from them.

“Angelina is beautiful and culturally important, and she’s wonderful at playing various versions of herself,” the insider noted, alluding to impactful philanthropic work.

Kidman is a better businesswoman than the Maria star. “Scarpetta could become a new peak for Nicole, and she’s already chomping at the bit to dive back into the Big Little Lies universe with Reese Witherspoon. She does not stop.”

Notably, both Hollywood actresses grew distant from each other after Jolie secured a role of Jane Smith opposite Brad Pitt in the 2005 film Mr. & Mrs. Smith, kicking off Kidman.

Per the source, “The dark dynamic between Angelina and Nicole goes back years.”

“They both came on the scene around the same time, but Angelina was from a Hollywood family, and Kidman was an Australian who made her own luck and broke through by capturing Tom Cruise’s attention,” the insider revealed.
