Every show on ABC Radio Sydney grew its audience share in the sixth ratings survey of the year following a string of high-profile changes, while a mid-year Hottest 100 of Australian Songs helped Triple J to its best result in Sydney since 2023.
ABC Radio Sydney’s breakfast show, hosted by Craig Reucassel, grew its share of radio listeners to 7.8 per cent, up 0.2 percentage points, while its Mornings show, hosted by Hamish Macdonald, grew its share by 1.5 percentage points to 7.1 per cent.

Macdonald replaced Sarah Macdonald this year in what proved to be a controversial decision for some listeners and staff members. ABC Radio Sydney’s overall share was 6.6 per cent, up from 5.6 per cent.
Triple J recorded a 4.4 per cent share, retaining its audience from the previous survey period of 4.3 per cent. Both survey periods included the July 26 Hottest 100 of Australian Songs competition, helping the station to its best two survey results since Survey 1, 2023, which usually spans the normal Hottest 100 count. Survey six this year spanned July 20 to September 27.

A breakfast share of 3.9 per cent for Triple J duo Concetta Caristo and Luka Muller was also the station’s best performance since the final survey of 2022.
After replacing 2GB’s Ben Fordham as the number one show in Sydney last month, The Kyle and Jackie O Show fell 1.7 percentage points, back to 13.6 per cent. The number one show was Fordham’s, which jumped 2.6 percentage points to a 16.8 per cent share. 2GB’s Mark Levy, who replaced Ray Hadley in the Mornings slot, was up 3.4 percentage points to a 14.9 per cent share. Nine owns both 2GB and this masthead.
2GB topped the market, returning to the number one spot, having been beaten by Smooth FM in survey five. Smooth dropped 1.1 percentage points to a 10.7 per cent share, trailing 2GB on 14.2 per cent.
KIIS fell 1.1 percentage points overall to a 9.8 per cent share, trailing both Smooth and 2GB.
