Lorraine Kelly stands strong amid ITV cuts

Lorraine Kelly has finally addressed ITV’s major shake-up of her daytime show, describing the drastic changes as ‘heartbreaking’ but firmly stating she has no plans to step away.

The 65-year-old presenter saw her self-titled morning programme take a significant hit following ITV’s cost-cutting decisions announced in May.

Under the new schedule. Good Morning Britain will now occupy her9-10am slot for 22 weeks each year.

For the remaining 30 weeks, Lorraine will host the show five days a week, meaning there’s no longer a need for usual Friday stand-ins, Ranvir Singh and Christine Lampard.

Additionally, the show’s duration has been cut in half, and it will now air from 9:30am to 10am just minutes.

Since the announcement, there has been widespread speculation that Lorraine might leave the show altogether.

But after five months of silence, the Scottish broadcaster has spoken out, reassuring fans that she’s not going anywhere and plans to stay on screen ‘for as long as people want to keep watching.’

She told The Mirror she had an ‘inking; that there would be changes coming, but that show had been ‘trying really hard’ to make up for the lack of budget by ‘punching way above our weight for the quality of guests that we get on.’
