Tim Allen has found forgiveness after more than six decades of pain, all thanks to Erika Kirk.

On Thursday, September 25, the 72-year-old actor and comedian revealed on X that he has finally forgiven the drunk driver who killed his father in 1964. In his heartfelt tweet, Allen said inspired by a moving eulogy given by the widow of late political commentator and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

“When Erika Kirk spoke the words on the man who killed her husband: ‘That man… that young man… I forgive him.’ That moment deeply affected me,” the Last Man Standing actor wrote.

“I have struggled for over 60 years to forgive the man who killed my Dad. I will say those words now as I type: ‘I forgive the man who killed my father.’”

The Home Improvement star was just 11 when his father, Gerald Dick, died in a car accident after being struck by a drunk driver. Allen has spoken openly about the tragedy, recalling how the loss transformed his childhood.

“Every single thing in my life changed,” he once shared in a 2006 Inside the Actors Studio interview.

Now, decades later, Allen says he has found peace.

Closing his post, he offered: “Peace be with you all.”
