Perrie Edwards reveals go-to artist for coping with anxiety

Perrie Edwards name dropped her ultimate “anxiety artist,” who helps her through her toughest moments.

In a recent interview, the former Little Mix star opened up about her upcoming self-titled debut solo album, Perrie, and the emotional journey she faced while creating it.

As she discussed the personal battles behind the music, the 32-year-old singer shared that SZA has been a source of comfort during anxious times.

“When I’m feeling sh*t, when I’m scared, when I’m feeling anxious, SZA is my anxiety artist,” she revealed. “She just calms me. So hopefully, when people hear my album, it does the same thing and takes them away to someplace else. That’s what I want the most.”

The X Factor UK alum has previously spoken about her struggles with anxiety, especially during and after her high-profile relationship with former One Direction member Zayn Malik.

The pair dated from 2012 to 2015, ending their two-year engagement that August. In past interviews, she admitted that her mental health was deeply affected during that time.

The Forget About Us singer also shared her hopes for the album’s impact on listeners, saying, “Hopefully the album just cuts through. It’s music that I love so much, and I just hope it’s an escape for people.”

Her debut album Perrie is scheduled to release on September 26, marking her first full-length solo project since Little Mix went on hiatus in 2022.

Though Edwards has already released several singles, including her debut track Forget About Us in April 2024, the album represents a new chapter in her personal and musical journey.
