Janice admits her son Sean has ‘made mistakes’ and highlights his childhood trauma

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ mother is pleading for leniency as the disgraced music mogul awaits sentencing.

According to Page Six, Janice Combs wrote a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian as party of a sentencing memorandum, urging compassion as her son faces up to 20 years of prison time after his September 2024 conviction.

Diddy was found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution but was acquitted on the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. He’s been held in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Centre since his arrest and could serve several more years.

In her letter, Janice admitted her son’s faults but also shared the pain behind them.

“He has made some terrible mistakes in his life, which I know he recognizes,” she wrote. She described his early trauma, including losing his father at just two years old and his uncle at nine.

Janice, who turns 85 in December, expressed her heartbreak over the separation.

“This separation for the past year while Sean has been incarcerated has been excruciatingly difficult and painful for me and his children. I would like to spend the last few years of my life with my son, Sean.”

The sentencing memo also included dozens of letters from Diddy’s children and supporters, with his attorneys requesting a sentence no longer than 14 months.

The Bad Boy Record founder will receive his sentencing on October 3.
